SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES
At White House, we wholeheartedly embrace the ethos of responsible manufacturing, recognizing our profound duty to safeguard the environment. Our commitment to sustainability is articulated through a comprehensive suite of initiatives:
Global and Indian Scenario on GHG Emissions
We are actively engaged in monitoring global and Indian greenhouse gas emissions. Setting ambitious targets, White House is resolute in reducing GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 compared to our 2018 baseline, thereby contributing significantly to a healthier planet.
Science-Based Target Initiatives & Renewable Energy
We are steadfast in our pursuit of science-based targets. Initiating the Stop Coal Project in August 2022, We aim to complete the conversion of Thermopac and Boiler from Coal Fired to Biomass and Agricultural Waste. This conversion anticipates an extraordinary reduction of over 85% in absolute CO2 emissions by 2024, Additionally, we have been investing in Renewable Energy Certificates
since 2021, with a goal to achieve Carbon Neutrality for Purchased Energy (Scope 2) in 2022.
Zero Liquid Discharge
Responsible water management is a cornerstone of our operations. Our Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) practices recover 90% of water and salt from process effluents through a sophisticated process encompassing Biological
Treatment, Clarification, Reverse Osmosis, and Evaporation. This approach ensures responsible water usage while minimizing environmental impact.
Conserving Water
We prioritize water conservation with targeted strategies that include optimizing dyeing equipment, reducing MLR (Material to Liquor Ratio) from 1:7 to 1:5, introducing continuous washing machines for a 40% reduction in water usage during the washing phase, and adopting
new-generation dyes and chemicals that lead to reduced water consumption. Effective fresh water top-up has been reduced from 7.5 liters per kilogram of fabric to 4.8 liters per kilogram
of fabric
VAM – Vapour Absorption Machine
Our commitment to energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact is demonstrated through the adoption of Vapour Absorption Machines. These machines, installed in 2022, utilize demineralized water as refrigerant and lithium bromide as absorbent. This not only reduces process time during the cooling cycle of the dyeing process but also results in significant energy and water savings. Moreover, we have converted 50% of our air conditioning from conventional CFCs to Chilled Water.
Higgs Index
Our active engagement with the Higgs Index underscores our commitment to transparency and sustainability in the textile industry. HIGG FEM, a sustainability assessment tool, standardizes how factories measure and evaluate their environmental performance year on year. White House commenced HIGG FEM verification in 2019 and expects to have all facilities verified by 2024
ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals)
ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) Adhering to ZDHC guidelines, we prioritize responsible chemical management in our processes. Key milestones include publishing ZDHC InCheck Reports since June 2021, achieving product conformance to ZDHC standards over 90%, and level 3 conformance exceeding 80%. Furthermore, we have been publishing Waste Water Reports since 2021, enhancing transparency in our chemical management.
Sustainable Raw Material
Reflecting our commitment to environmentally friendlyproduction, we actively source sustainable raw materials, prioritizing responsible sourcing and consumption.
Tree Plantation
Our tree plantation initiatives have contributed significantly to reforestation and carbon offset efforts. By the end of 2021, we had planted 500 trees. In 2022, we took a significant leap by planting 15,000 trees, creating a substantial sink for 330 tonnes of CO2.
Other Initiatives
Our pursuit of sustainability extends to various innovative practices, including Less Salt Dyeing, Dyeing at 40°C with low MLR, the incorporation of Natural Dyes for Garment Dyeing, and the use of Sustainable Raw Materials for Trims
& Accessories. We have also embraced Bio Degradable and Compostable Polybags, championing eco-friendly alternatives.
Certifications
Our dedication to sustainability is validated by certifications that underscore our unwavering commitment to responsible manufacturing these initiatives not only symbolize our unwavering
dedication to responsible manufacturing but also exemplify our pledge to sustainability and environmental stewardship. At White House, these practices are not just a part of our mission but a core element of our vision to deliver quality while preserving our planet for future generations. We care deeply about the world we share and the legacy we leave behind.
